"Desi is very energetic, knowledgeable, and motivational when it comes to dealing with her doula clients. She goes above and beyond to be present. She has a lighthearted comical spirit and is very awesome when engaging with both parents. She is a beacon of support and is passionate about the work she does in the greater NYC community"

"Desi!! You were absolutely fantastic in our town hall styled meeting addressing racial relationships. Your ability to put into words the emotion that comes with anti-racism education is nothing short of inspiring. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!"

My work as a doula and birth advocate is rooted in Maternal and Reproductive Justice and Medical and Health Equity. As a birth and postpartum coach and doula I:
□ Partner with, coach and assist birthing people through their own divine birth experience
□ Help impact positive birth outcomes in my communities
□ Inform and transform our modern health care system with equity and justice
A journalist, producer, editor and commnentator with a strong voice offering a mix of smart, funny and personal on the intersections of media, popular culture, social justice, movement building and public health.
The Antiracist Workshop is a call to create healthy, sustainable, and empowering equitable communities of understanding.
DeVyne Crown Farm education is rooted in Food Justice. Workshops offer simple urban farm education of herbs and vegetables that pays homage to the emerging urban farm landscape of The Big Apple. I firmly believe that if you want folks, particularly kids, to eat better, they have to plant it, grow it and cook it themselves.
DeVyne ReDesign is rooted in Environmental Justice. It offers beauttifully upcycled pieces that make you feel good about keeping furniture from piling up in landfills that often times harms the most marginalized communties.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported in 2018, of the 12,080 thousands of tons of furniture and furnishings generated, 80.1% was landfilled.
"We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have Desirée as our doula. Desirée helped us tremendously preparing for the arrival of our son. I am grateful she was part of our special day. We highly recommend her. It was a relief having Desirée come over during our pregnancy. She helped me and my partner practice natural birthing techniques. Even though, my birth resulted in a c-section she was very supportive and provided us with her expertise and guidance during the process. After birth, she has helped my body heal from body aches and also providing us with essential child care techniques. Desirée exceeded our expectations and our birth experience would not have been what it was with out her."

"Desi not only created a beautiful piece of furniture, she upcyled a dresser from my garage for my son's room that he helped sand and paint! We now have a sentimental piece from my late father and she also educated my son on environmental justice, the importance of creativity, working with his hands AND saving the planet!"

I was continuing my journey as a graduate student in the Community Health
Education Program at Metropolitan College of New York. My life changed when I met Professor Robinson. I would describe her as "a breath of fresh air."
She is supportive, she has a creative mind and continues to be an inspiration to myself and so many others. One of the many great qualities amplified by Prof. Robinson is her strong hold and belief in
Social Justice. She believes in the uniqueness of everyone as it relates to race, gender, sexual orientation, and socio economic status to name a few. She believes that everyone deserves and should have equal economical rights, equal opportunities, the right to
equal political representation, and social rights respectfully. Prof. Robinson continues to be an active and supportive member of our community. I have absolute faith that wherever Prof. Robinson goes and whatever task is given to her, she will execute in the most effective and impactful way possible. - Lorna Modeste-Thomas, Community Health Educator specializing in Black Women's Health.
