What is a birth doula?

A trained non-medical professional who provides holistic physical; educational; emotional support and advocacy to birthing individuals and their partners before, during and after childbirth (postpartum period). The word "doula" comes from ancient Greek and means "a woman who serves," but our brothers can be doulas too!
